Hello Stress my name is Heather

I know many of you have had a time in your life were you feel like you don't know what to do first. Well, I have made it to that point.

I am sitting at home (ATX) after my first day of my last semester of college! Is that really exciting...well yes, but it also scares the hell out of me! I have been looking for jobs online for about an hour now and I still have no idea what I am looking at. It is so confusing because you see with nursing you can either apply for a specific job or for a nurse internship, which is something you enter right out of school. So say you go for that, well not all specialties are covered under this internship. YIKES! And what about the chance that the position you are applying for gets filled while you are in the process of applying? And should I work nights or what about a unit I have no desire to work on? Thank goodness there is a instructor that I am planning on meeting with later this week to help me answer some of the questions or so I hope.

I want a job! I want to be sucessful! I know I will eventually do both of these things, but there is so many things going on it is hard to keep it all straight. It makes my head spin just thinking about it all! When did I grow up. It seems like just yesterday Marcel and I were moving into the dorms saying goodbye to our parents and thinking, "wow, I can't believe we are finally in college!" Now we are in two separate cities and he is off furthering his education at med school, and I have to figure out how to be a big girl and get a job. Can I just stay in school forever? Maybe Ivy and April are onto something? Now I look back to the first day of freshman year and think where did the time go? I feel like the same girl, but when I really take a look at myself I am so much different.

I strive to be independent. I set goals for myself and not for my parents. I say this because 4 years ago I think I wanted to go to college and get good grades for my parents, but now I do this all for myself! Who knew that I would want to learn things, and many times I look for more than I am required to know just because it interests me! I hope that I will continue to feel this way once I am out in the real world working.

For once in my life I am not working. I get to be a full time student with no other requirements, and for whatever reason I feel more stressed than ever! I know everything will work out, because it just does. For now I am going to focus on the rest of the week and in a few short days I get to see my lovey in SA! I miss him so much!

Happy Hump day-ps just writing this has helped me decompress!

O wedding planning

So the past few weeks have been nice/hectic/sad. I'll explain, NICE=it is the last week of summer and I quit my job at Barton Creek-FINALLY and I was able to hang out in SA with Marcel for a while! HECTIC=traveling all over for Mrs. Ruth's wedding-lovely, Corpus Christi for a last minute decision beach trip with Marcel's mom and sis, and back to ATX for a roomie night and finally to Dallas for wedding planning! SAD=this is my last summer to be a college student, welcome to the real world mom said.... :(

Marcel is doing lovely, not sure he would describe it as that, but I think he is doing great with school. He will start his 4th week this coming Monday. He is in class literally all day, especially on his lab days. He has the largest drive to succeed that I have ever seen! He seems to be enjoying the material, but not the amount. I miss him, but it is nice to think he is only an hour and half drive away. Ivy-I don't know how you did it with several states between you and Troy?!

The beach was a blast. Last minute I decided to crash the girls beach trip and tag along. It was perfect and nice to sit and listen to the waves and read my last summer read. I am never able to read as much as I like during the school year.

I am currently in Dallas. I came for a last summer visit and to wedding plan like a mad woman! I have in my head most things I want to have at the wedding, but I am starting to realize to put these all together is quite the task! Ivy-wanna help? April has agreed to be my part time wedding planner-or at least I have asked several times-no answer yet!! She does however send me lovely ideas that I keep adding or changing my mind!

Thankfully after this visit I am pretty sure we now can check off the list of TO DO-choose a caterer, cake baker, and centerpieces. We also have already booked the venue, DJ, and photographer! Not only this but I purchased the material for my veil-a family friend has volunteered to make it since what I want is super simple and I don't really want to spend 200+ on the one at the store. I would write what is left on the to do list, but that might stress me out! HA! O YES, the bridesmaid's dresses arrived and I LOVE them! I was not going to order until next Spring, however we came into a slight problem when one day I was showing them to someone online and they were not there! I called and they were being discontinue and luckily the price was almost cut in half and I was still able to order! Perfect dress at a cheaper price-couldn't ask for more! Thank goodness I found out!

While I have been Dallas we have been running around looking for ribbon for this lovely table idea for the head table as well as ribbon for the centerpieces. Who knew it was so hard to find cornflower blue ribbon! I in the process found a cake topper, flower girl basket, leash to walk putter on at the wedding and a garter. I am thinking that I like this whole bride thing! However, I might kill my mom before this whole thing is over, she is just a little tired since I wanted to accomplish so much in a few short days!

Big girl world is just around the corner. I will start applying for jobs within the next month. Interviews start in October! EEEEK, that stresses me out! Hopefully I will be able to get just the job I am looking for!

Is Summer really half over?

This week is crazy for us!

On Sunday we got back from Dallas. We arrived in Dallas the Friday the week before. It was a busy day. We booked the venue for the wedding and the photographer. It feels so nice to have the big things taken care of, all that is left as far as big parts of the budget is the caterer. Our photographer is LOVELY, she is a nurse that does photography part time, she is switching to make photography full time. You can see her here. We also have booked the DJ which was the same DJ at Court's wedding! He is pretty well known in the Dallas area.
Then on Saturday we went to Mexico, Barcelo, it's a resort just South of Playa del Carmen. It was lovely....now we are both peeling even with SPF 50! Hopefully we don't lose the tan! We got home (Dallas) from that trip on the July 2nd-which happens to be our Engagement Anniversary! I can't believe it has already been a year. On the 4th we went to Cubbie's (Andrew Bickford), commissioning into the Marines as a Lieutenant! It was a wonderful ceremony, exciting, but very emotional for everyone. He has been working towards his goal since he was young. We had a pretty chill rest of the day, dinner with friends and drove out to a field for fireworks.

On Sunday we came back to Austin to return to our shamble of an apt. I say this because we are mid packing as Marcel moves on Saturday. Not only this, but I leave for camp on Saturday as well. I will be a Camp Longhorn as a camp nurse for 3 weeks. I will only get one day off to visit Marcel is SA for his white coat ceremony at the end of July, then he begins classes the day after.

On another note living with Erin has been lovely. She moved in back in mid June as she will be taking over Marcel's part of the lease when he leaves. She is GREAT! What a great roomie! I was so nervous as I have lived with someone I am comfortable yelling at when he makes a mess for the past two years, but I am thinking she will be quite some fun! I am thinking this Summer is going by way to fast. Soon I will beginning my last semester of college, so exciting and sad at the same time.

I can't wait for the exciting next few months up ahead! Happy Hump day!

We SET A DATE! So excited!!

The past two days have been very busy, we have accomplished way more than I expected could be done in 2 days. We went to San Antonio Monday morning and started looking for places to live, for Marcel and me after I graduate in December! We started with 2 apts on our list and two townhomes. The first apt was blah, and 1st townhome was blah. We then decided to hit up ones in the area....more crap. So then we went to the other one on the list-loved it or so we thought. Then on the way to the other townhome, which to find out was already leased we found another place that looked nice from the outside and SUPER close to the med center. We thought it would be out of our budget, but NO. WE LOVED IT!! There are some down sides I guess you could say, really close to the hospital-aka noise from chopper and ambulance, but TOTALLY WORTH IT! Marcel can walk to school, no pain in the ass parking!! We kept looking for the rest of the day and Tuesday morning, but ended up back here. We thought, we lived on campus the first year for undergrad, might as well do the same thing for med school too, let him get acqauinted with the area. And....this place is a HUGE upgrade from where we are now!! These are pictures of the model we saw that are just like the apt we will get!

Wedding-yes we have a DATE! Hopefully in the next few weeks I will book the photographer, DJ, and as well as the venue. We have had the date held for a few weeks, but now it is FOR SURE! I want to get as much done as possible this summer to avoid craziness while learning in school and job hunting and moving this fall! HA! This date is a Sunday, but the Sunday before Memorial day! How convenient....no one has to take any days off! : ) The wedding and reception will be at the same venue! I think I need to quit using exclamation points. !!!!! I'm so excited, the ball is finally rolling and Marcel and I will be hitting our 1 yr engagement coming up on July 2nd, very soon.

Next Saturday, well a week from Saturday I guess we will be sitting on the beach sipping margaritas, pina coladas, strawberry daquiris, not all at once, but one of those, you choose whatever makes you jealous! ;) I am so looking forward to a get away!

Erin moved into the apt last weekend. She is good....no really it hasn't been bad with 3 people here. She is super easy going and can't wait to live just me and her in the fall. We will have a girls pad for once!

I guess that is all, it seemed like a lot more in my head, but I guess it is just big steps so I see it much bigger! : )

Recent Happenings!

Marcel graduated! YAY! It was so GREAT to have all of my family in town to celebrate. Early Saturday morning we went to his Dean's Honored Graduate brunch. It was quite the spread. Each graduate was given a certificate and was able to say a few words of thanks after being honored by the dean. It was pretty special!
Here is Marcel saying a few sweet things at the cermony

About to walk across stage!

Then we headed over to the big graduation for College of Natural Sciences. We sat on the floor in the front row in front of all the graduates. It was fun being able to see everyone walk across stage right in front of us. Not to mention I could make faces at Marcel the whole time while he sat on stage! HA.
Marce and I with his award!

John and Abby were so good during the ceremony!

The Wiley clan!

Mommy and Marcel

Look who came to support! Mrs. April Allen BUCK!!

After this we headed home for a quick change and went to RUDY's!! It was delicious. We got stuck there for about 2 hours because of an ABSOLUTE downpour! We had Marcel's boss, as well as Ed and April join the fun. That boy sure is loved! : )

For a while we had to decide if we were going to go to the big graduation. We had no idea if it woudl be rained out. It was raining, but they still had it. It was bittersweet for me, I was so happy for Marcel, but kept wishing I was in the crowd of graduates as well. I had a little pitty party for myself and then quickly got over it when my mom and Marcel reminded me my day would be soon enough this December!

Sunday we headed back to Dallas for Court's mom's funeral. It was beautiful. Court is doing so great. We had several meals with them and went and did things to get their mind off it. She is such a strong and spirited person. I am SO lucky to have her as a friend. I stayed in Dallas until Thursday hanging out with Court, but I soon realized she was taking this better than I had expected. She has such a good view on life and the big picture.

Back to Austin on Thursday. I worked through the weekend, blah...we went and had dinner with this lady from Marcel's lab that had a baby in March. He is super sweet and CUTE his name is Samuel and they call him Sammy! It was nice to get out and do something.

More work....

Last night we went to a show at MOMO's for a friend and past roomate of Marcel's Jake Rabin. He is the drummer in this band and they were really good. It was fun to see old friends, several were there that we haven't seen since high school. O memories!

Today I am running errands and going to try and make Jello shots....becauase tomorrow we are FLOATING the river!! Marcel's parents are in town again for a family friend's HS graduation and we are celebrating with them by floating the river. I love being able to have a good time with my soon to be family! : )

So that is what is going on with us. We are starting to house/ townhouse/ condo/ apt hunt in San Antonio. We really want a yard for Putter! Wish us luck! PS-Only a few more weeks until the wedding date that is tenative will be BOOKED!! I can't wait!

Still playing the waiting game...

So thus far we are still going to San Antonio for medical school. This is GREAT, but Marcel still has his heart set on Baylor. We only have a few more weeks until the deadline of June 15th, when everyone is set. He is starting to think San Antonio will be his home. There was some movement on the waitlist earlier this week due to students having to make their final decision on one school. On May 15th people were no longer able to hold more than one acceptance, so when some turned down their acceptance others on the waitlist got in. Marcel was hoping for a call, but has yet to receive one saying he made it in. San Antonio would be GREAT to live, it's safe and super cheap...and better yet super close to Austin for next semester when we are separate.

And better yet if we do end up going to San Antonio the wedding date will be May 30th, 2010. We put a hold on the date, but it could still change school depending....but it feels so good to be almost to the point of setting a date. Here is a quick look at the venue! We love it, it is out in the middle of nowhere!
I finished my sememster off great. I have to brag, because this is the first time EVER I have gotten a 4.0 in college and it feels SPECTACULAR. It is so satisfying to get the grades I worked so hard for, especially since this semester I have been looking forward to the whole time. This weekend Marcel graduates. I can't believe it. He has done so great! He was given the award of Dean's Honored Graduate, which is given to 18 students of 2000 out of natural sciences. He has an awards ceremony before graduation and he will sit on stage during graduation. I am so proud of him!! My family and his will be coming into town tomorrow. I think everyone is excited. I can't believe it is FINALLY here, he is graduating, which means only one more semester before I graduate. Where did four years go?!?!

This summer Marcel will continue to work in the research lab out of the kindness of his heart...for free, and also because he loves it, I will be working at the golf course just a few more months before I finally quit. Then in July I will be going off to Burnet, TX to work at Camp Longhorn as the camp nurse. There is a few of us in nursing school going, it counts as an externship and sounds like fun. This will be about the time Marcel is moving out so it will be good for me not to be sitting home alone. Erin will be moving in with use in a little less than a month, she will be taking over Marcel's part of the rent once he moves....I haven't lived with a girl in so long! HA!

I am kind of just spitting out thoughts as they come into my head. Last weekend I was home to visit my mom and to go to Courtney's graduation. I was so proud of her, she has been so busy lately, with student teaching, working and her mom being so sick. Speaking of, please pray for her mom, she was just taken off chemo this past week, there is nothing else they can do for her. It is so sad, and it is so hard for Court and her family. Be thinking of her. She updates her blog regularly about her mom's status, but it doesn't look good. Here she is at graduation with her husband Jamison.I will let you know how it goes this weekend, I hope you are all having a good week! I will keep you posted on Marcel's status!
