Marcel and I picked up our wedding invitations today and I could not be happier with them! : ) It wasn't exactly what I had in mind when we first started looking at invitations, but there is so much to choose from that I completely changed my mind after I saw what was available!
Now we are going to try and create our programs on our own based on the invitations.
I just worked 3 nights straight...which is exhausting, but now I have 5 days off! How awesome is that! Nursing is all I expected it to be. I am finally getting in the groove with my co-workers which makes staying up all night that much easier! I will be off orientation starting this next week, I can't believe it is flying by so fast! I have made good friends with several of the girls that used to work labor and delivery and they think I will very quickly be able to move over to that department! I can't wait! It is still so surreal to realize I am doing what I have always wanted to do! I get to help mommas get better and get ready to go home after going through quite possibly the most painful thing in their life! I mean really watermelon through a lemon.....sheesh! Being a grown up is weird. I am so used to making money and being able to spend it on Heather stuff......now I have rent and bills and big girl stuff. Either way it is totally worth all the work I had to do and I couldn't be happier!
Regarding the last post! I am SO SICK of making flowers already! I love the way they look, but I am kicking myself for getting all crafty. I tried to convince my mom to help, which she normally would, except she already has 20 other things on her plate literally! Maybe I will put all my lovely bridemaids to work! ; ) I also asked my mommy if she would be nice enough to fill out my invites as her handwriting is straight out of handwriting book! However once again she told me she already paid her dues addressing invites.....fair enough mom!
I get another dress fitting in a little over one week, and a Couples shower! Look how cute they are!
Hammer and saws
and drills that have power
You're invited to join us at a
"Honey-do" couples shower!
How cute is that! Marcel registered at Home Depot-so this will be his drink beer and BBQ man shower!
I am SO excited to finally be celebrating wedding festivities!
On a side note-Marcel will be in Vegas 2 weeks from today with 5 of his closest friends....o dear!

Hopefully it will be worth it!
April gave me this wonderful idea for the wedding several months ago. I figured if I had the time I would maybe give it a try! Well I have time now and I have begun, it takes FOREVER to fold the tissue paper and open into the flower. Not to mention make enough for one ball! However, I LOVE IT! I will continue making flowers indefinitely. And like I said HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE WORTH IT!
Today we ordered our invitations and blocked off rooms for wedding guests....which means-We finally have everything booked for the wedding! Next up is a couple's shower in Dallas on my dad's street-it will be a "tool" theme for all the Tools-ha cheesy I know, but it for my dad's friends and their wives and Marcel gets to register at Sears. He is excited. After the shower Marcel will be leaving for Las Vegas with 5 other guys for his bachelor party-yikes! I think they are going to have a blast and I have nothing to worry about. 2 are married-one of which has a pregnant wife and the others I have known forever! I just feel bad for the flight attendants on the plane with all 6 of them! O yeah and I get another dress fitting that week!
In April is another bridal shower-more traditional and bachelorette party with my bridesmaids of course! Then May will be finalizing the details and working my hiney off to be able to take off for our wedding and honeymoon! It is all going to be here before I know it and I can't wait!
This is definetely a do-it-yourself wedding!
Tissue balls to hang on the chairs down the isle, and tissue flowers for each table-so that makes 24 large flowers and approximately 10-15 flowers per ball with 10 balls at least makes-WAY TOO MANY FLOWERS!
I rolled all the silverware last time I was home-yeah all 200 of them
Centerpiece vases-mom and I will be putting the ribbon on them next time I am home
Family friend is making my veil
making a fun ribbon table overlay for the head table
sashes for Bridesmaid's dresses....
I feel like there is so much more....and I hope it all comes together!
We are just at 103 days to go! : )

Wedding Plans are moving right along....

Yep-Marcel told me where we are going for our Honeymoon-and that's it-ST LUCIA! We are so excited! 7 nights of beautiful scenery including beaches, mountains/hills-they call them the Pitons, rain forest which we are zip lining through, and I am sure much more!
You ask where that is-well it is in the Caribbean. "One of the Windward Islands of the Lesser Antilles, it is located midway down the Eastern Caribbean chain, between Martinique and St. Vincent, and north of Barbados. St. Lucia is only 27 miles long and 14 miles wide, with a shape that is said to resemble either a mango or an avocado (depending on your taste). The Atlantic Ocean kisses its eastern shore, while the beaches of the west coast owe their beauty to the calm Caribbean Sea."

On the way there we stop off in Puerto Rico and then on the way home we stop off in Miami! Wedding plans are finally becoming very real.
All that is left to book is the linens, and to finalize the caterer, cake and figure out the alcohol.
I can't believe it is going to be here before I know it!
I am done with work orientation-well the paperwork and hospital stuff, I start on the floor this Sunday and I am so excited! I finally get to see what it is like to be a real nurse! I do orientation with another nurse until the end of March then I am on my own. The girls at work seem so sweet, I am so glad I picked the private hospital-it seems like such a great place to work.
Marcel and I are really starting to feel at home in San Antonio. It took a while for me to realize that I wouldn't be moving back to ATX and starting classes again, but it is refreshing to be done!
In other big news-my bestie Courtney is expecting! I am so excited for her and her husband, they are going to be the BEST parents! I am thinking this year 2010 is going to be GREAT and it has only begun!

Here's to a NEW YEAR
Happy New Year...well in a few hours anyways!
Marcel and I have had a good last couple of weeks! Marcel finished semester one of medical school and claims he is 1/8th of a MD, which is true! I decided on the Baptist job which is a private hospital on the Post-partum unit and start on Monday! I can't believe I am gonna be a big girl and have a real job!
We went home for the holidays for a week! It was crazy busy seeing everyone, as well as getting some wedding plans taken care of, but good to be home. I met with the florist, we ordered tuxedos, and picked out our wedding rings! And, we met the officiant which we both fell in love with her! She is wonderful!
I can't believe our wedding is 150 days from today! It is finally getting close enough to really get excited! We are both so ready and have been waiting for this day a long while.
I am still in disbelief that I have graduated and won't be going back to school in a few weeks. That is hard to really believe. College went by so fast. I am an adult now. Starting tomorrow I will be on my own....well almost, I still have to figure out the little stuff with my parents, but I will be able to provide for myself and Marcel and that is a pretty great feeling!
I promise to post some pictures soon! It was so cold at graduation and windy not very many of the pictures turned out due to all the coats, blown hair and we were all freezing, not really in the mood to smile. But, I will see what I can find and put them up ASAP.
Wanted to give you a little update. I will be studying and working for the next month, until I pass my boards....then let the wedding plans be in full swing!
Hope you all have a Happy and safe New year!

I am so confused...
Great news, I got 2 job offers in one day! Bad news- I HAVE NO IDEA WHICH ONE TO CHOOSE! I am so lost, I think about it constantly. I have started a pros and cons list and I think it is only confusing me more.
I am SO thankful I have the choice and I will have a job and it is in the department I want, but I don't want to pick the wrong one!
AND I could even get another offer (haven't heard back from one of my interviews) THEN WHAT!?!?!
One is a great learning experience, but the hours suck=I sleep all day, and Marcel and I constantly miss each other=I am grumpy....AND everyone is at least 10 years older than me...I say at least bc most are 40+ : ( no Happy Hour friends for me.
The other is private hospital-I hear is for lazy nurses....(well this is coming from the nurses at the other location I have the offer from), the hospital is AWESOME-beautiful and new! I always wanted to work at a private hospital. The staff is young=my age.
Well I will keep you posted. Whatever I choose will hopefully be right for me! The good thing about nursing....I can always change!
O yeah, did I mention I graduate in less than 2 weeks!! And I will be employed! AND the wedding date is only a few short 6 months away!!
I am so thankful this year at Thanksgiving! : )

Last night was my first night shift! Tonight at 10pm I have my first interview for Labor and Delivery. And to my surprise while I was sleeping today I got called about another interview for mother baby/ nursery at another hospital! I am pumped! So exciting I get to be a real nurse....hopefully! I'll keep you posted!
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEee , I was jumping up and down last night! I have had a whole lot of nothing and just when I was all down on myself, here I get two calls! Like my momma says....all good things come to those who wait...someday I will learn to listen to her!

Busy Week
Thought I would give a quick update on my busy life. I constantly feel like my plate could not be any more full. Then I talk to Marcel who is loaded down with school and I realize I don't have it so bad! I am enjoying my last semester which is half over by the way in nursing world. I finish class the last week of October, then I do Capstone for 4 weeks! I have been madly hunting for jobs, I have applied for 4 jobs at 2 locations, hopefully I will get a call back about interviewing soon!
Quick side note: I had someone from camp put a good word in for me at Methodist in SA for the L&D unit. I got an email back this week that said they aren't hiring right now, but that may change and that she heard a lot of great things and hope they can hire me! HOORAY! Then......this past Friday I was in SA with Marcel and his friends in med school all rotate doing dinners. Most of the time it is kids with parents that live in SA and provide food for everyone. Well this past week it was just that, there is this on girl in his class that had us all over and her mom is an OBGYN that rotates at Methodist. She was SUPER excited to meet me as she was a nurse for 10 yrs before med school! She talked to me FOREVER and at the end of the night wanted to make sure she had my first and last name so she could also put a good word in for me! I just HOPE that two good words means possible job for me! I would be so lucky!
Wedding plans are on the back burner, which is a nice change! I like focusing on other life decisions, it makes me feel more balanced. Wedding planning will switch into high gear come Spring!
Football season is wonderful. Marcel made a visit for the TECH game! Our seats ROCK 9th row 30 yard line! I can't wait to see where our OU seats are!
This weekend I am headed home to see Mary Poppins Musical as a Bday gift from the Wiley family! It was my FAV movie growing up so I can't wait!
